My name is Dr. Patricia (Tricia) Cardner and I specialize in peak performance and sport psychology.
A few years ago I was introduced to NLHE and became fascinated by all aspects of the game. At the time I was working with executives and professional/semi-professional athletes on peak performance issues, and I wondered if poker players faced similar issues. To find out, I conducted a first of its kind dissertation study that examined the psychological aspects of peak poker performance.
It didn’t really surprise me that top players consider psychological aspects of the game to be critical to their success. Unfortunately, there is very little training available to poker players from actual psychological experts.
I’ve been teaching people how to use psychological principles to improve their lives since 1998, and I can show you how to use them, too. Besides teaching courses in the psychology of poker at Park University — Austin, I am writing a book with commentary by Jonathan Little called Positive Poker: A Modern Psychological Approach to Mastering Your Mental Game which will be released in Fall 2013.
If you are interested in enhancing the psychological aspects of your game, I’m available for peak performance coaching. My focus is on how you can get the best out of yourself while playing poker or preparing to play poker using the latest, clinically proven techniques.
Issues that I can help with include (but are not limited to):
- Tilt Control
- Goal Setting
- Slump Busting
- Confidence Issues
- Expertise Development/Training Plans
- Improving Focus
- Relaxation Training
